 Above and Beyond Members
The Outstanding member program gives the chapter a way to honor and recognize ESA members who have gone above and beyond for ESA. Members give of themselves in multiple ways to advance the success of ESA and their chapter. It is no longer requred to count points or wait until the end of the year to recognize our outstanding members. If a chapter has a member that has gone "Above and Beyond" in any way to promote ESA over the years the State Council wants to recognize these individuals. It is not necessary to limit the time considerations to a single year if the member has done something over the long term. A chapter can nominate up to two members in a year's time. The members nominated throughout the year will be honored and featured on this page. They will be recognized at State Convention in the spring.
Feature your outstanding members today! Fill out and submit this form along with a photograph to the Outstanding Sister Chairman. A copy can be emailed to the Webmaster for the site entry. (Click the button)

Linda Morris - Alpha Delta - Winfield
Members of Alpha Delta think that Linda is a true asset to ESA. She has invested 28 years in her membership pledging into ESA in 1982. This past year she served in the capacity of Educational Director. Linda has achieved her Fourth Degree Pallas Athene and her First Pearl. She has pledged two members into ESA. She is a striver and a hard worker. She is very loyal and dedicated member. Linda likes perfection and works hard for her chapter. She is a caring lady and possesses a great sense of humor.

Linda Herburger - Alpha Delta - Winfield
Linda served as chapter president of Alpha Delta last year having pledged her membership in 1994. She has achieved her Second Degree Pallas Athene, and pledge one new member to ESA. She is a caring, fun-loving sister with a great sense of humor. She has given ESA 16 years of loyalty and dedication. Linda is a dependable member and does everything her chapter asks of her.

Above and Beyond Members of ESA for 2009-2010 Given Recognition at the 2010 KSC Convention in Olathe

Eilene Prockish - Gamma Lambda - Manhattan
Several members nominated Eilene as our chapter’s Outstanding Member with the reasons being repeated many times over. Eilene has been a member of ESA for 18 years. During those years she has been called on to serve as Secretary several times. She has always done a thorough and efficient job of taking minutes and getting them out to the members in a timely manner. Eilene has helped in many of our chapter’s service projects. She has earned her third Degree Pallas Athene and is working toward her fourth Degree Pallas Athene.
Eilene is very involved in bowling and has won many awards and served on committees. She gives service to many and quietly goes about serving others without being asked. Eilene is a great mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She is a wonderful and kind Gamma Lambda Sister.

Darlene Fronce – Gamma Lambda – Manhattan
Darlene has served as president of Gamma Lambda chapter for the 2009-2010 year. She has proved to be a terrific organizer and motivates our members to take part in as many activities as possible. She is always upbeat and caring as well as having a smile and a kind word for all. She keeps on top of all our activities and works hard to keeps us all informed.
Darlene is a devoted wife, mother and grandmother as well as being a passionate and dedicated supporter of ESA.

Dotty Moore – Theta Pi – Jetmore
Dotty Moore joined ESA Theta Pi two years ago. She has been an awesome addition to ESA. She earned her First Pearl and this year she received the First Degree Pallas Athene. She is
very enthusiastic and always has a smile on her face. She willingly helps with all chapter projects. She is a great ambassador for ESA as she exemplifies what ESA is all about.

Cheryl Voss – Eta Theta – Cheney
Cheryl serves our chapter in two capacities this year: a member of our awards committee and the Corresponding Secretary/Jonquil Girl. You might say she is one of those behind the scenes members. She always gives 110 percent for any job that she is assigned or volunteers for and doesn’t expect any recognition for a job well done.
She has had to send more than the normal amount of cards and flowers this year. Cheryl has stayed on top of the job and manages to remember everyone within 24 hours of finding out the information. Although many members don’t know it, Cheryl has gone above and beyond with our project with the Nursing home this year. An example of this was to provide flags for all the food trays to celebrate Independence Day this year. As a member of the awards committee she is very consciences of her duties. Cheryl has spent hours recording and tabulating or member’s activities and points in a timely manner.

Debi Jones – Eta Theta - Cheney
Debi is a very special person. She is our Recording Secretary this year as well as the Co-chair for the Social Committee. She never complains and is always willing to help everyone and does it quietly. She never seeks recognition, nor does she want attention drawn to all of her work in ESA. She holds down a full time job, with kids in school, and still makes time to volunteer. She has great ideas, but brings them to the group in such a way that will not overshadow anyone else.

Sandy Keener - Beta Beta - Andover
I am nominating Sandy Keener for her Above and Beyond efforts in supporting our transition into our new philanthropic project. For more than 25+years, Beta Beta has volunteered thousands of hours at the Kansas Coliseum during most all coliseum held events. In January 2010, our philanthropic project is moving to the new Intrust Arena. This effort has brought many new challenges as well as needed additional training. Sandy has approached this challenge with a great attitude and a sense of ESA pride. Sandy's approach to this project has in turn inspired and motivated Beta Beta to the new challenges. Those challenges include: new dress codes, food handler's classes, parking arrangements, additional people needing to work, training on new equipment and procedures, as well as encouraging everyone to work additional evenings for special events. Sandy has done an outstanding job carrying us through this transition, scheduling all needed training, and keeping all members informed and motivated.

Karen Osborne - Beta Beta - Andover
Beta Beta is proud to honor Karen Osborne as one of our Above and Beyond reciepients this year. Karen has been an ESA member for over 40 years and is so helpful to our chapter, district, and state. She has helped in many ways during the years with awards, scrapbooks, yearbooks, publicity, and hosting wonderful events at her home.
Karen has served as all chapter offices and has also held district offices and served on state committees. Last year as chapter president, she encouraged active participation in many events which helped us to win the Outstanding Chapter award. She organized a St. Jude walk in her neighborhood and then served a delicious dinner for members.
Karen spends many volunteer hours at the Andover Public Library and this year helped conduct a very successful Math-a-thon for a local elementary school.
She is a very caring person who took care of her mother who had alzheimers and has helped chapter sisters who are dealing with a medical issue or grieving from loss of a loved one. Karen is always available to help a sister in need or spend time together having fun.

Cari Ringwald – Delta Tau – Great Bend
Cari is a 6-year member of Epsilon Sigma Alpha and earned her First Pearl by pledging 2 members her first year and has pledged 6 members total. Cari always has a smile and is welcoming to all who attend. She is willing to do whatever task is needed. Delta Tau is recognizing Cari for going Above & Beyond, as she is our “social secretary”. Cari notifies each member of upcoming meetings and notices through an online email invitation system. Cari shrugs off the commitment that it takes to send the reminders saying, “After the initial set up in only takes a few minutes before each meeting”. Her chapter sisters are appreciative of her time spent and dedication to sending the invitations.

Sondra Freeman – Alpha Iota – Medicine Lodge
Alpha Iota has chosen Sondra Freeman as one of our outstanding members. Sondra has been in ESA for 19 years. She has held all the offices and is our Treasurer now. She works on all our committees. She has been in charge of our concessions for many years. She participates in District and State functions. She is truly a dedicated ESA member.

Beverly Garten – Alpha Iota – Medicine Lodge
Alpha Iota would like to recognize Beverly Garten as our outstanding member. Bev has been a member of ESA for four years. Bev received her First Pearl and is in the Jonquil Society. She is serving her second year as our Vice President. Bev has been active in both District and State activities. She is always there to help with our committees. Bev was in charge of our successful St. Jude project this year.

Lori Steffan - Delta Tau - Great Bend
Lori Steffan is a 3-year member of ESA and from the moment she signed the pledge form she has stepped up to help wherever needed. Lori’s cheerful countenance makes her a friend to all which is handy since she has voluntarily stepped in as social chair this year when needed. Lori also chaired Delta Tau’s Ways & Means Auction in December. When asked if she would chair, her response was “Sure just give me some guidance.” Lori organized a beautiful evening. Her chapter sisters repeatedly comment that Lori will always step up. Thank you Lori for going Above & Beyond.

Corinne "Corky" Schur - Beta Xi - Minneapolis
Corky is a member of a chapter of two but the work they do is insurmountable. She is quiet and reserved but ask her about their chapter project and she becomes animated, excited and her eyes sparkle but she is nonchalant as if the project is no big deal since she has been involved from the beginning. The past 22 years she has overseen that the children of Ottawa County who might not otherwise have a Christmas have plenty of presents under their tree. There are many who contribute gifts and donations throughout the year; classrooms that collect money and take a name off the tree; other civic organizations that refurbish bicycles for those that ask for them. But Corky is the one that spends 70 – 75 hours a year beginning the day after Christmas purchasing presents on sale for the next year, wrapping them, making sure siblings have a “similar load” and delivering them. They serve about 130 children each year. In addition they provide Christmas gifts for 25 residents at the local nursing home who don’t have family or the family doesn’t have the means to provide gifts. Corky has gone above and beyond serving her community for years! Thank you Corky.

Dian Boaldin - Delta Eta - Elkhart
Dian has been a member of Delta Eta for 34 years. She has been Treasurer for over 10 years and she does an outstanding job. In her 34 years she has also held other offices. Dian is a very kind and considerate person in everything she does. She has been a lifetime resident of Elkhart where she raised her family with her husband Bob and together they run a very successful business, they farm and ranch and they are both involved in the community. We could not think of anyone more deserving then Dian to recommend for our outstanding member.

ReLinda Shook - Delta Eta - Elkhart
ReLinda has been a member of Delta Eta for 10 years. She was Vice-President in 2002-2003. She has been in charge of the community calendars that the sorority does as their main fund raiser. ReLinda is a very hard worker and very dependable. She lives in Elkhart with her husband Kevin. She has two children Allie who is in College and Braden who is a freshman in high school. She also has a step daughter Samantha. She is involved in several different organizations with the community and is always volunteering. ReLinda is a very special person and we were very excited to nominate her for outstanding member.

Virginia Bigbee - Gamma Omicron - Manhattan
Virginia Bigbee has been a member of ESA for 46 years. She was an active member of Delta Omega in Manhattan. In Delta Omega she held all office and also offices in the old Zone 4/District J. In the past, she served on the state council. Judy, (her daughter) remembers attending her first state convention in Dodge City in 1976. Virginia had been selected as Zone 4’s Outstanding Sister prior to that convention. At the time, the state Outstanding Sister committee selected one member to be the Kansas Outstanding Sister. Virginia was honored as the Zone’s Outstanding Sister.
Delta Omega disbanded and Virginia transferred her membership to our chapter (Gamma Omicron) in May 2009. She had been attending during 2008-2009 as an ex-efficio member. Virginia has only been in our chapter a short time, but she has already made a significant impact. She is always there to lend a helping hand with whatever needs done. She bakes cupcakes for Stoneybrook, hosts and co-hosts meetings and serves our chapter as the Jonquil Girl/Chaplain. Virginia has provided some very inspirational messages for us in her duty as our Jonquil Girl. During our Hope for Heroes week, she was the one who made the contact with our local American Legion to see if we could help them out with anything. As a result a number of us were able to donate our time serving breakfasts to the veterans and servicemen on Veteran’s Day. We also participated in the St. Jude Give thanks Walk at the Sunset Zoo in Manhattan. Virginia was there bright and early encouraging everyone and serving water and snacks to the walkers. Virginia is on the social committee and has helped plan many different socials.
Just recently she organized our District J meeting, planning everything from the place to have the meeting, to the decorations, food and auction items. She is a very enthusiastic member of our chapter and we are so glad that she decided to join us. Thank you Virginia for your many years of dedicated service to ESA!

Sandi Miller - Beta Epsilon - Frankfort
Beta Epsilon would like to honor Sandi Miller as a 2010 Above & Beyond Member. Sandi holds the title of being the only remaining charter member of our chapter and we feel she deserves special recognition. We mentioned she could help out in jest, and sure enough the day of the auction, she was one of the first ones there to help. She loves to use her computer skills whenever she can and did so voluntarily many times with making of name tags and invitations for district and state events this year. She not only helps on her own committees, but anywhere she can be of help. Delta Chi is proud to submit Delgene Moore-Sealey as an outstanding member recipient.
