The original members were Kay Thompson, Vi Fry, Mary Ann Johnson, Janice Parks, Sue Gies, Janene Radke, Maxine Atkinson and Nancy Winsky. Over the years, our chapter has grown into a larger chapter with women of all ages and interests. Alpha Zeta members are active in Local, District and State offices and on committees. In addition to being involved with ESA’s International and State projects, Alpha Zeta also contributes to organizations in the Garden City, and Lakin areas through donations and volunteer hours. These organizations include, Family Crisis, Emmaus House, Lakin's Nursing Home as well as local churches and schools. Alpha Zeta is International as it also reaches across country lines with one member currently living and contributing to her community in Libya. The members of Alpha Zeta believe in and contribute to the leadership of the Kansas State Council with one elected officer and filling six appointed positions.
