Travel Guidelines & Responsibilities:

Each speaker sets their own limitations regarding the distance they will travel to deliver a persentation. Speaker's Expenses & Responsibilities:

Travel expenses, accomodations, and incidental expenses determined prior to the event will be paid in advance of the event. (Along with the determined speaker's fee) It is the speaker's responsibility to finalize the contract, travel requirements, and/or negotiate any fees with the client. The speaker will also be responsible for the distribution of the evaluation cards for the contracted event and turning them into the Speaker's Bureau Coordinator.

Speaker's Booking:

We prefer that bookings are made at least three months prior to the event and made through the booking agent of the Star Speaker's Bureau. Each Speaker has the right to accept or reject any speaking engagement. However, once the engagement has been accepted with a signed contract, the speaker and client should consider it an obligation that has to be competed. Only in extreme situation will a speaker ever cancel on a commitment and every effort will be made to get a replacement to fill that obligation based upon the client's needs.

The Booking agent should be notified regarding any cancelation of contract. All funds should be returned to the contracting party. Any cancelation of a contract by the other party will have funds returned. If expenses were incurred prior to the cancelation these would be covered and/or negotiated with the client.

Special Programs:

  1. Some programs have additional requirements, which will add to the cost of the presentation. These will be negotiated with each circumstance. Time, distance, and location will determine the cost to be absorbed by the client.

    Program Evaluation:
Evaluation cards will be sent to the client to be distributed after the event. The event host can collect and give to the speaker at the end of the evening or can mail the cards back to the Star Speaker's Bureau Booking Agent. Program Topics:
Each presenter will be responsible for developing and listing their speaking topics and events. The topics will be added to and/or updated periodically. Our presenters will develop their ability to customize their topics to address the needs of the client. This means added research by the speaker with questionaires, phone conferences with organizations and reserch materials on the client's organization.

    Speaker Classifications:

Our presenter's (speakers that speaks to, or entertains an audience) fall into many categories. Below is a brief description and list of some of our general categories. The bureau's speakers have classified themselves in the following classifications for the clients convenience.

    • Keynote Speaker:
A keynote speaker is considered the main presenter and will usually speak for approximataely 30 to 90 minutes at a general session, dinnner, or banquet. A keynote speaker can be either a professional or non-professional speaker. Keynote speakers fall into a variety of subcategories. Some these are:
      1. Motivational: Speakers who get a group enthused about themselves or the organization, while providing a message that is thoughtful and useful. A good motivator can make an impact by leaving a lasting impression.
      2. Inspirational: Speakers who have succeecded in life despite a varieaty of setbacks and handicaps, or have accomplished something against great odds. Such speakers tell life stories, which can inspire the audience toward greater goals and accomplishments.
      3. Educational: Speakers who can talk on specific subject in an educational, informative, exciting, as well as an entertaining manner. Any of the subjects that can be taught in a seminar or workshoop can be covered in a keynote address. However, not all seminar speakers make exciting keynote speakers.

    • Seminar leader:
The Seminar leaders are experts on a particular topic. The objective is to educate and motivate an audience on that subject. The delivery will be less dramatic and more conversational than a keynote speaker. A seminar format will usually allow for more interaction between presenter and audience. Seminars will usually provide handouts, work with overhead projectors, slides, and/or power-point visuals. Seminar leaders can easily work with a relatively large audience. Our Seminar leaders will design your seminar around your specific needs.

    • Workshop Facilitator:
The workshop facilitator is very similar to the teacher in the classroom. These presenters usually work with the smaller audience which allows for more individual attention. A facilitator can provide guidance as the participant practices using the newly acquired knowledge or skill. The facilitator will lead the group through an activity, exercise or simulation that allows them to probe, clarify, or relate the new information to their own experience and workplace needs.

One-Day Workshops: Our Workshops are designed for three one-hour increments given on a rotating topic bases. Topics can be repeated so the client can attend all three sessions of a round robin format or more than three topics can be selected where topic selection will be a consideration by the client. Our presenters work in groups to facilitate the one-day workshops. The client can select the program for the one-day workshop based upon the needs of their organization.

The client may select a single topic from the list for presentation.

A four month time frame must be allowed if the topic has to be developed for the client. A workshop team will be developed based upon the topics that are selected and available workshop speakers.

We find that a free lunch time placing people on their own is the easiest, but the client is responsible for planning any lunch activity.

The KSC Star Speaker’s Bureau has a pool of speakers available for workshop presentations. Requests for a workshop will drawn from this pool of speakers based upon their topic expertise, location, and availability. The location and facility for the workshop will be set by the group/person making the request for the workshop. If the bureau is asked to plan location and facilities there will be an extra charge.
