Why it pays to belong to ESA!

Picture
Several years ago, I was invited to attend a State Board Meeting, whatever that is. Two people there changed my life, although I doubt they knew it, or maybe still don’t. BJ Clark and Susie Winters came and introduced themselves to me and then at the end of the day, remembered my name and invited me back.
At that time, I had just conquered cancer and the last of our children were in college, and I was perfectly happy being in the background of life. For me to speak to a group of more than ten was a major event. I love to be with my family and friends and volunteer when time allowed, but I was basically happy being a worker bee.

A couple of years later, Karen Knorp—Brown asked me to be the state Publicity Chair, and Lord knows why, I accepted the challenge. She had faith in me that I really didn’t know was there.
Thru the years, I have held several positions in Kansas ESA, but who knew that it would all lead to this past year and the places I have been. As an Outreach Program, I conceived the VOLUNTEER J.C. FAIR, and thru these past few months have spoken before the City Commission, asked for and received donations from merchants, been on the radio and published advertising in the newspaper, to name a few tasks I have accomplished. Who knew I could build a website and create a Face book Page/event? My guess is B.J. Clark and Susie Winters.
