Interesting and fun things that will make your convention worth attending!!

- Have you heard? ESA is celebrating our 50 year partnership with St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital this year!!! Join us at State Convention on Friday evening, April 29thfor a fun evening down memory lane, Still Rockin’ Danny’s Dream – ESA 50 Years Strong. There are plans to have a St. Jude Family join us, videos of the hospital, music, a fashion show and more. Danny Thomas made his vow to St. Jude in the 1940s, planned for the hospital in the 1950s, built the hospital in1962, ESA joined as an Army of Volunteers in 1972 and we have continued to bike, walk, bake, sell, and volunteer through 2022. So pick a decade and dress up! Grab an A-line dress in patriotic colors, or dust off your saddle shoes and grab your poodle skirt, a leisure suit, leg warmers & big hair, tie-dye, fashion from Y2K or sport your favorite St. Jude clothing, just join the fun!
Mark your calendars, grab your ESA sisters/brothers/spouses/guests and plan to ATTEND! The cost is $30.00. You can register by venom (no fees), on-line by using this link: https://kansas-esa-st-jude.square.site/ or send your registration for $30.00 with a check payable to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital to Kim Kummer or pay at convention, just plan to attend!
Oh and did I mention prizes!!!! Prizes will be awarded to those who embrace the fun of dressing up!!!
ESA HQ has challenged each state in a $50 for 50 Challenge, making at least 50 donations in increments of $50. They want us to be creative and fun to recommit and re-engage our St. Jude commitment. The state that sends the most donations by December 2022 will have a special prize at their 2023 State convention. So, if you are unable to attend Still Rockin’ Danny’s Dream – ESA 50 Years Strong and want to support St. Jude, consider filling an M&Ms mini candy dispenser with quarters. I hear it holds $10. Send with an ESA chapter member and we will see how much we can collect between now and our April convention.
Remember to complete a booked event form if you have an event, send your yearly donations to me by April 1st, register for the St. Jude VMS, email me St. Jude photos, to be included in a slide show, email to kmkmmr06@gmail.com , plan your costume for the Still Rockin’ Danny’s Dream – ESA 50 Years Strong and send $30 for your tickets. See you in Wichita!
- The Lamplighters will have their Raffle table with a lot of good prizes to win. 15 changes for $5.00. Prizes will be awarded on Sunday.
- Workshops will be held Friday and Saturday. I am excited to tell you about the workshops that will be rounding out the ESA year at the State Convention at the Marriott in Wichita. On Friday we are lucky to have the Wichita Mounted Police share their experiences with us as First Responders and will even be bringing four of their horses for everyone to interact with. In the afternoon we are fortunate to have IC President, Robin Bussey as a special guest as well as a representative from MARC who will share their ESA experiences with us. Our Membership Committee is planning to have a fun interactive workshop on tap and Joy Thornbrugh along with Angie Fairbanks are going to bring some Parliamentarian fun to the table. Saturday evening will be capped off with our Keynote Speaker, State Patrolman Benjamin Gardner known as Trooper Ben. He promises to bring an interesting and informative presentation of his experiences as a First Responder for the Kansas Highway Patrol.
- Chapters who participated successfully in the MORE program will receive recognition and a $100 to support their chapter.
- Be sure to stop by the Capper Foundation table at convention and purchase your tickets for this beautiful table runner. It was made and donated by Joy Thornbrugh. Tickets are $2.00 each.
